We are happy to announce our next open meeting where we will be welcoming members who want to get more involved in organizing, educating, and mobilizing white people into action for racial justice and Indigenous sovereignty. This meeting will be facilitated by white people but is open for anyone to attend! People are encouraged to come, regardless of whether they attended the first meeting or not!
This meeting will take place on sacred territorial land of the Anishinabek Nation and Haudenosaunee Confederacy and also the Huron-Wendat, Petun First Nations, the Seneca, and the Mississaugas of the Credit River. We recognize that as we do anti-racism work in Toronto, colonial violence is ongoing and that we do this work while occupying stolen land.
This meeting will be focussed on introducing and breaking off into working groups that we will be organizing in to build a mass movement of white people who are undermining and interrupting support for white supremacist institutions and act to support Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour-led organizing.
Working groups will be under the umbrellas of ACTION, EDUCATION/OUTREACH, KIDS AND FAMILIES and COMMUNICATIONS. Each of these working groups and the focus of each will be described in more depth.
Stay connected for upcoming meetings, workshops, and other opportunities to plug into action. If you are a BIPOC organizer in Toronto and want ally support at this time, please message our page or contact [email protected]
The venue itself is accessible and we will still have a separate room (Shadd room) for childcare. Accessible gender neutral washrooms are on the second floor because unfortunately gender neutral washrooms on the first floor are not accessible.
Please let us know if you have any accessibility needs for this meeting and we will do our best to accommodate them. Please let us know if you require ASL interpretation by April 19 or ASAP. We are committed to building accessibility of future meetings and welcome feedback on this.
Please bring your own waterbottle if you want to drink, as Ryerson is a «plastic-free water» campus. Also feel free to BYO snacks if you want something to nibble on or share with others!
PLEASE COME TO THIS MEETING FRAGRANCE-FREE — please reduce/do not use perfumes, fragranced body care products, etc.
