WELL WE'RE BACK! And back with a vengeance committed to raising funds for small queer charities across Canada (and maybe someday internationally).

The festival kicks off with it’s big ticket gala at the Acqua Dolce Resto Venue on Wednesday May 3 at 7:30pm. This year’s “Gayla Gala” is a 90 minute fast-paced variety show featuring festival talent and loads of Canada’s favourite personalities. We’re celebrating performance of all kind so, as is the case with all of our galas, you’ll never know what you might get.

Scheduled to appear: Lea DeLaria (Orange is the New Black), Stephen Wallem (Nurse Jackie), Colin Mochrie (Whose Line), Deb McGrath (Little Mosque), Gavin Crawford (Because News), Shoshana Sperling (The Monkey Bunch), Teresa Pavlinek (The Jane Show), Martha Chaves (JFL), Areta Marshall (Slam Poet), Belle Jumelles (Burlesque), David Benjamin Tomlinson (Starf*cker), Chantel Marostica (JFL), Lucas Silveira (the Cliks), and introducing Aastha Lal and Amir Brandon. Festival founder Maggie Cassella (standup, TV host, neat freak) will host this all-star and future-star show.

Tickets are $300 a person or $3000 for a table of ten and can be purchased online at thegaylagala.bpt.me or by writing [email protected] (Tax receipts available in accordance with CRA rules and regulations).

Oh and there’s fun food too. Eat with your hands street fare with an Italian twist in celebration of the street performers we know and love! Rubber chickens reserved for the stage.

We know this is a big ticket but thanks to our sponsors EVERY penny of it goes directly to the Foundation which means it goes directly to helping a small queer charity somewhere in Canada stay on it’s feet. Give yourselves a pat on the back k?

Oh and don’t forget to pat our gold sponsor Cineplex media and our Media Sponsors CP24 and CTV Toronto

The We’re Funny That Way Festival is a fundraiser for the We’re Funny That Way Foundation which aims to give transformational gifts to queer charities across Canada. This year we are providing funds to help create an LGBTQ drop in centre in Scarborough, Ontario called Toby’s Place. For more information on Toby’s place please go here.

The festival is produced pro bono by Ford Cassella Productions.
