You're invited to join Nurture: A Retreat and Shecosystem: Coworking & Wellness for a screening of «Dream, Girl» at Shecosystem on Tuesday May 16, 2017.

Dream, Girl is a feature length film showcasing the stories of inspiring and ambitious female entrepreneurs.

We hear the sotries of five diverse women entrepreneurs from industries including publishing, fashion, and technology. The women in the film speak openly about the struggles and triumphs that come with entrepreneurship for women — from sexism to self-care to what it means to start a family and a business at the same time.

Dream, Girl premiered at the White House and Director Erin Bagwell was featured by Oprah Winfrey on her Super Soul Sunday.

Sonja Seiler from Nurture: A Retreat and Emily Rose Antflick from Shecosystem are two local women entrepreneurs who know what it means to dream big, including the resistance that shows up on the way to realizing those dreams. After watching the film, Emily and Sonja will create a safe space for sharing and connection. Let's look at our vulnerabilities and dreams, in an honest conversation about the themes of the film.

About Emily

Emily Rose Antflick is Shecosystem’s founder and Chief Community Cultivator. With an M.A. in Education, Emily spent a decade teaching and creating transformative educational journeys in Canada and internationally. After experiencing a pervasive sense of depletion in her personal and professional life, Emily turned her attention to helping women like herself get unstuck and cultivate heart-centred communities that empower them to be their best selves. Emily proves that having a singular passion is not the only way to succeed: in addition to being an entrepreneur, she is a Rite of Passage facilitator, Permaculture Designer and dancer. Emily was a winner of the Startup Canada Women Founders Fund and has been profiled as a Woman of Influence and a local feminist to watch.

About Sonja

I believe wholeheartedly that creativity is a form of holy self care — that's been the only way past my own chronic intellectual, stuck-in-overthinking-mode ways. I started Nurture: A Retreat out of a need in myself to work alchemically with my darker, needier, or unmet parts. I immersed myself in the transformational 'schools' of playing with food, playing music, playing with words on the page, and that lead me to want to do and learn and grow more because I started to feel more and more myself and more and more alive. I want to nurture: Community. Connection. Creativity. Collaboration. This is what feeds me. Oh and butter. You could court me with butter.

FAQs

Is this for women only?
No! All genders are welcome.

Do I have to be an entrepreneur?
Nope. Dream, Girl is an inspiring film for people we like to call „entreprecurious.“ If you've been holding yourself back from taking the leap to go after your dream, this might be just what you need. And if you've already started your business or have been at it for a while, the film offers inspiration and a sense of solidarity.

Is this an all ages event?
Yes! in fact, Upworthy said the following about Dream, Girl: „The film every little girl (and grown-up girl, too) should see. It may just change how she dreams.“ Feel free to bring your daughters or mentees.

Will there be food?
Of course! It's not a movie night without popcorn...but you've never had popcorn like this before. Light refreshments will be provided by Nurture: A Retreat, where butter is a love language.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Shecosystem is located at 703 Bloor Street West, half a block from Christie Pits Park and right across from Christie Station. Dedicated bike lanes run past our front door, and parking is available on Bloor and at a Green P on Clinton Street. Find us on the south side of Bloor, upstairs from the Kids and Company daycare. Regretfully, our second floor unit is not wheelchair accessible.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Feel free to email us at [email protected] with any questions!
