This Film Should Be Played Loud: See new, classic and rare concert films on the big screen.
D. A. Pennebaker documents the 1967 Monterey International Pop Festival at the height of the Summer of Love. Monterey launched the careers of Jimi Hendrix, JanisJoplin and Otis Redding and ushered in a new era of rock 'n' roll. Other performances by artists like Simon & Garfunkel, The Mamas & the Papas, The Who and Ravi Shankar are vividly captured by both Ricky Leacock and Albert Maysles, who were camera operators. Pennebaker approached the film with the same adventurous spirit as the organizers and the artists themselves, creating an unforgettably explosive concert film. ow.ly/pCXw30bA8V2
