Join us for this year’s Women’s Gala Party, Signature Groove, after we screen the Canadian premiere of Signature Move. The film is a hilarious love story about female strength, family and Lucha-style wrestling.

If body slamming and hitting the mat sound like a good time, prepare to have the night of your life at Signature Groove, our Women’s Gala Party. Join us as we explore the dynamic world of women’s wrestling with the League of Lady Wrestlers. Announcing right alongside will be Jax Irwin (Jaclyn Irwin). Clotheslines optional, dancing mandatory. DJs Cozmic Cat (Cherry Bomb Toronto) and Wei Back (BROWN // RICE: QTPOC dance party collective, Regretro) will be in the ring all night long.

About the League of Lady Wrestlers:
We are the League of Lady Wrestlers Toronto Chapter.

The professional wrestling ring, which is traditionally a male-dominated space, is a primed site to explore issues of power and gender stereotypes. LOLW events are more than just simple battles between faces and heels. Our audacious, dynamic spectacles invite every participant to celebrate the desire to push back against oppressive cultural values. We join together to suspend disbelief and hold on to optimism about the possibilities of empowerment, gender equity, and community.

The LOLW ring is an inclusive space. While many of the collective members are artists or curators working in other mediums, we also encourage the participation of people who have no experience with wrestling or performance. We focus much of our energy on creating wrestling personas that embrace a range of characteristics, including those that can be suppressed or discouraged. In the ring, we can be brash, brave, gross, funny, loud, smelly, angry, and exuberant. We are bitches and heroines. We are loveable and not likeable. We support each other in these choices.

We hope to leave our audiences feeling inspired to take on any challenge in any ring like a champion.

About Cozmic Cat:
Cozmic Cat has brought her dj mix to Iceland, USA, South Africa & more, however she is best known in Toronto as the resident dj and co- founder of Cherry Bomb, the city's longest running queer women's monthly party. Coz is also a music producer with her first solo e.p out June 14th 2017.

Her eclectic mix of hip hop, dancehall, bmore club, 90s and electro will make you sweat all night long.
