-AND WE ARE PROUD TO PRESENT-

A SNEAK PEEK BEHIND-THE-SCENES OF

BROWN GIRL BEGINS by Sharon Lewis
An afrofuturist feature film
Inspired by Nalo Hopkinson’s award winning novel “BROWN GIRL IN THE RING"
Producers: Jenn Paul, Floyd Kane, Vince Buda

We will be premiering the Brown Girl Begins trailer and a Behind the Scenes video for a sneak peek at the team and the process that it took to bring this feature film to the screen.

It’s 2049 in the Burn, and the poor have been deported to an island off the mainland of Toronto. The forsaken islanders turn to young Ti-Jeanne and her Caribbean mystical spirits to save them, but to possess her powers she must undergo a possession that could kill her, but if she doesn’t her people will die.

«As an alumni of the Caribbean Tales Incubator it is a true honour to be able to participate in the media launch of the CaribbeanTales Film Festival that is a showcase and supporter of the wealth of storytelling talent that sprouts from the Caribbean and the diaspora.» — Sharon Lewis

The Screenings will be followed by:
A TALK-BACK WITH:
Directors Shakirah Bourne and Sharon Lewis,
The talk-back will be moderated by Artist, Designer and Art Educator, Quentin VerCetty, a co-founder of Black Future Month and the Black Speculative Arts Movement — Toronto chapter.
