It's Programming Director Eric Veillette's birthday, and he's inviting everyone to see two of his favourite films — both on 35mm! After a reel of 1980s horror & sci-fi trailers, the programme starts with Night of the Comet (1984, 95min. 14A), where Valley Girl meets Dawn of The Dead. When life is wiped out on earth, Regina (Catherine Mary Stewart) & Samantha fight off cannibal zombies and a sinister group of scientists (led by Mary Woronov!).
But wait — that's not all! Our second feature, Val Lewton's Isle of the Dead (1945, 71min. PG), is a moody suspense flick featuring the great Boris Karloff, who finds himself among several people quarantined on a Greek island during a plague. If that isn't enough worry, one of the people, a superstitious old peasant woman, suspects a young girl of being a vampiric demon. An underrated gem from Val Lewton's tenure at RKO.
Two classic flicks, on real film, for $6. We'll also be serving beer & wine! What's not to love?
Special Event. Double bill admission is $6 and donations to the Revue Cinema will also be accepted. Membership free event not applicable.
