The Maltese Falcon
Dir. John Huston
Humphrey Bogart goes head to head with Peter Lorre, Sydney Greenstreet & Mary Astor as they all doublecross their way to the bejewelled Maltese Falcon in this classic film based on the Dashiell Hammett novel.
Dir. Billy Wilder
Edward G. Robinson is hot on the trail of Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray, who have concocted a devious plan to dispose of Stanwyck's husband and collect the insurance! Based on the James Cain novel, this is a classic yarn that packs a major punch!
The Lady From Shanghai
Dir. Orson Welles
Orson Welles does his best Irish accent as a drifter lured into a 'den of vipers' by Rita Hayworth, only to find himself wrapped up in a murder plot. Based on Sherwood King's If I Die Before I Wake, Welles still had plenty of innovation left in him at this point, and manages to put his own spin on the noir genre.
The Killers (1964)
Dir. Don Siegel
Based on the short story by Ernest Hemingway, The Killers had already been made into a more traditional noir starring Burt Lancaster in 1946. This time round these killers are in technicolor! Two hitmen attempt to discover the reason they were sent to kill a man in this wildly colourful, thrillingly directed & bloody film, starring a badass Lee Marvin, Angie Dickinson, and President Ronald Reagan!
