Don’t know what Qi Gong is — In short, Qi Gong has been called mediation with motion… Instead of trying to calm your mind by working to control your thoughts, your mind just lets go and clears because you focus on the simple movements of Chi Gong. It's physical but meditative. It's what Thai Chi was built on, but its focus is to connect mind and body, teach you mindfulness, and helps re-energize you entirely, using short routines.
And if you ever wanted an easy way to understand what mindfulness is all about with no mental work required at the end of an already mentally exhausting day, a way that helps you realize and release the stress you carry and may not understand, a way to help you re-energize like you just woke up and give you clarity in thought without the caffeine jitters and crash. You’re going to really enjoy being introduced to all of this through these sessions in July.
The sessions are each Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 pm:
Experience 1 – Smooth Healing Flow (July 06)
The quintessential beginner form. Also known as the Pureland Health and Wellness form. Experience several aspects of rejuvenating Qi Gong without effort. Learn what it means to collect Qi, how to listen to your body, and effective ways to tune into yourself and re-charge.
Experience 2 – Physical Goodness (July 13)
This is one of the forms they would teach to warriors to practice before or after battle. It’s healing, creates flow through your body, and organs, and moves you through full range of motion. But don’t worry, you don’t need to consider yourself athletic – it’s for everyone, and for you to meet yourself where you are. It’s definitely the more physical form of these 4 weeks — It’s the 8 Brocade.
Experience 3 – Shedding and Clearing (July 20)
We’re back to flowing and learning a form designed for you to shed whatever you feel is stuck, and to clear off what you don’t need to be carrying. This is a beautiful form that’s designed to bring in energy from all around us, and then release what doesn’t belong.
Experience 4 – Flowing Some Stillness (July 27)
On this day, we’ll be exploring versions of Qi Gong that are still and very powerful. Practiced either standing or sitting, you’ll learn personal body scanning, right angle breathing, grounding Chi Gong meditation, working with intention and what that means, and many more. Yes, a lot can happen when you’re motionless.
