This Halloween season, Queer Fear is proud to present one of the most important (and referenced) horror movies in Queer History — the 'Wizard of Oz' of horror — Brian De Palma's 1976 camp masterpiece:
Thursday, Oct. 12
Pre-show: 7:30PM | Feature: 8:00PM
Since it’s release, 'Carrie' has been an ever-relevant part of queer pop culture, from it’s exploration of bullying and taboo sexual awakenings, to its stylized vengeance sequences and timeless camp. Gay men, in particular, continue to have a deep appreciation of the film, regularly quoting and referencing the film in their own works and — of course — with countless drag performances.
Join your best Ghoulfriends for an evening of camp, drag and discussion as we pull one of horror's most memorable films out of the closet! Featuring performances by some Toronto's bloodiest queens and a post-screening panel discussion on why the queer community identifies so strongly with the telekinetic prom queen!
