// Peter Willie Youngtree
Peter Willie Youngtree’s mixing of old Folk and Country motifs with modern sounds, combined with his contemplative lyrics, has earned him comparisons to Bob Dylan, Gram Parsons, and Eric Bachmann. Brought up in a family of Newfoundland folk musicians, Youngtree was steeped with musical and lyrical sense, and also with a sense of justice that still informs his writing. Since the release of his award-winning debut album «Country Hymns» (MusicNL Country Recording of the Year, 2016) Youngtree has toured eastern Canada extensively, sharing the stage with modern folk icon Jennifer Castle, showcasing on the Country/Blues Stage at the 2017 East Coast Music Awards, and most recently performing at the Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Festival. In addition to topping Earshot! Top 30 charts from coast to coast, «Country Hymns» earned high praise from Overcast Magazine as one of the best Newfoundland albums of the year and was long-listed for the Borealis Music Prize. Together with his backing band, The Blooms, Peter Willie Youngtree is now recording his second album with producer Chris Kirby for release in Spring 2018.
// Graham Nicholas
On Sometimes Chicken, Sometimes Feathers, his latest full- length album, Nicholas has created an emotionally resonant world inhabited by troubled and love-hungry characters. Never alienated for their insecurities, his characters are instead respected by the empathetic voice of an honest songwriter. The album finds Nicholas honing in on his concise form of storytelling and refining his irreverent sense of humor. Coupling the narratives with a backing band that harkens back to the likes of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and The Band, Nicholas’ songs have found the right balance of warmth and grit.
// Oxford Blue
