ADRIAN STIMSON is one of this year's Grow Op Artist in Residence at Toronto's Artscape Gibraltar Point. Stimson is an interdisciplinary artist and member of the Siksika (Blackfoot) Nation. Through materiality and Blackfoot mythology, his practise seeks to offer a contemporary display of indigenous knowledge and history. Exhibiting nationally and internationally, Stimson has been recently been recipient of a Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts. @ADRIAN_STIMSON

EMILY JAN is an artist who was born and raised in California, currently working out of Montreal. She is one of this year's Grow Op Artist in Residence at Artscape Gibraltar Point on Toronto island. Jan creates intricately crafted, hyper-realistic installations made of a mixture of hand-made flora and fauna and found objects. bestiary of hybrid beings addresses the ontological blur which exists between plant/animal/fungus, the temporal blur between living/dying/regenerating, and the shifting boundaries between Self and Other by combining species and objects. @EMILYJANSTUDIO

J. DAMRON is an artist/teacher from Sierra Nevada, USA. Damron questions what is the value, with critical acumen, to place contemporary art into the slip stream of un-prescribed contexts? What does it mean to make contemporary in a culture of trained artists and gatekeepers (mostly all) cut from different parts of the same cloth? @JDAMRON_CAPERE

EMILY GUO is a recent graduate from the University of Waterloo Master’s of Architecture program, whose thesis further explored the topic of her Grow Op installation. Guo explores in her work how military landscape finds a second life as animal refuges. Referenced as cyborg landscapes, where technology meets ecology, tell a story of a post-human future where new ecological relationships are formed between the military pollutants and the animals that inhabit the land. Their very existence forces us to interrogate the ethical nature of these landscapes and question their future in an increasingly anthropocentric world. @emiruu
