Working as the Global Music Director for the San Francisco World Music since 2012, Imamyar Hasanov, is an internationally acclaimed virtuoso on kamancha. He is known for his extensive knowledge of both Azerbaijani traditional and Western classical music, knowledge of many of the world’s traditional instruments, and known for his versatility as an arranger, bridging the vast divide between his traditional scales and those of other cultures. He has taught widely, including recently in the Music Department at Stanford University.
Mr. Hasanov's workshop, from May 14-18 in Toronto, will cover instrumental technique and repertoire. Students of all levels are welcome to attend. Students are required to bring an instrument; kamancha players from other traditions are welcome to attend. If you need help sourcing an instrument please contact us and we can facilitate.
We would like to acknowledge funding support from the Toronto Arts Council. We would also like to thank all the private donors who are making this event possible through their generous donations.
