In the latest from Silas Howard (By Hook or by Crook, Transparent), Claire Danes and Jim Parsons take on the role of loving parents who are navigating the private school system in New York City as well as wrestling with their own preconceived notions about their child’s gender identity.

While preparing applications to private schools for four-year-old Jake, Alex (Danes) and Greg (Parsons) are told to focus on what makes their child unique, which, according to their preschool advisor, Judy (Octavia Spencer), is Jake’s gender-expansive play. When Jake begins acting out in preschool, Alex and Greg must come together to lend support and not lose each other
in the process.

Featuring a stellar supporting cast that includes Amy Landecker, Ann Dowd and Priyanka Chopra, A Kid Like Jake brings humour and a whole lot of heart to this story of one family’s journey toward understanding and acceptance.

It’s our party and we will take over the second floor of TIFF Bell Lightbox if we want to!

From drinks at LUMA to a full-blown party in Cinema 1, this is a complete takeover. Enjoy drag performances by Lady Beard Extraordinaire herself, Fay Slift, and the glamour Princess of the west end’s House of Filth, Champagna Enemea. Stick around to kick it old school at a video dance party featuring DJs Relentless, Phillippe and a few special surprise acts. Of course, your night is not complete without a visit to our silent auction. No buyer’s remorse here, just good deeds in return for great goods.
