Pedram Khavarzamini is recognized as one of the finest Tombak players of his generation. He has performed around the world and taught in Iran, France, and elsewhere, including at the Labyrinth Musical Workshop in Crete. Currently based in Toronto, he travels extensively to perform and teach. His skill in Iranian music is matched by his knowledge of rhythms from across the Middle East and Central Asia. He is the author of a Tombak method used in teaching in several countries.
Pedram's workshop, in Toronto from May 14-18, will cover instrumental technique, structure of Iranian music, and principles of rhythm relevant to all percussionists. Musicians of all levels are welcome to attend. Students are required to bring an instrument; if you need help sourcing one please contact us.
We would like to acknowledge funding support from the Toronto Arts Council. We would also like to thank all the private donors who are making this event possible through their generous donations.
