CHG is bringing the Cosplay Beach Party in Toronto for 2018!

Have you ever wanted to wear a swimsuit cosplay or beach anime cosplay, but either didn’t feel right wearing it at a con or during our cold weather? The Cosplay Hangout Group presents to you a special kind of cosplay event. This coming August, we are holding a TORONTO COSPLAY BEACH PARTY GATHERING! Enjoy a warm, sunny afternoon on the beach with your fellow cosplayers, get your photos taken and get ready to party with various activities on the beach!

For those that haven't been to a cosplay gathering before, if you enjoy the Anime, video game or comic book subcultures, then you'll have quite the enjoyable time at a cosplay picnic! It's an event where cosplayers get together for an afternoon in a tranquil park to socialize and have fun. For many, cosplay picnics are an opportunity to see their friends again, since big conventions are spread far throughout the year. For newcomers, it's a way to meet new friends. So whether you're new to cosplaying or a veterman, cosplay picnics are fun for everyone!

This year, the beach party will be held at Woodbine Beach.

Here's what to look forward to:

*A place to meet new friends, as well as hangout with some familiar ones. If you are new to the scene and need someone to break the ice, just look for the CHG hosts and volunteers with a lanyard on and we'll introduce you to some cosplayers. It'll be easy to find us!

*Photographers to take your pictures in your cosplay. The beaches in Toronto are beautiful in the summer and this event is a great time to get some wonderful photos taken.

*A variety of board games for attendees to play, including Cards Against Humanity. ;)

*Take part in our Scavenger Hunt Exploration Game — Woodbine Beach Edition and win prizes for being in first place!

*And more activities to be announced!

Directions to Woodbine Beach

Woodbine Beach is located on the east of Toronto and easily accessible using the TTC. Here’s the location of the beach if you’re unfamiliar:

There are two ways to get to Woodbine Beach by TTC:

1) From Woodbine subway station, take the 92 Woodbine South bus and exit at Lake Shore Boulevard.

2) From downtown Toronto, take the 501 Queen streetcar east and exit off Woodbine Avenue. Then walk south to Woodbine Beach.

*By Driving*

From the north or the east, use the Don Valley Parkway and exit off Lake Shore Boulevard. Drive east along Lake Shore until you reach Woodbine Beach.

From the west, use the Gardiner Expressway and merge with Lake Shore Boulevard east when the expressway ends. Drive east along Lake Shore until you reach Woodbine Beach.

There is free parking along the residential areas near the beach, as well as paid parking lots. The beaches tend to get busy during the weekend, so be sure to arrive early to get a parking spot!

It’s going to be a lot of fun at our beach party! With that said, we must also make sure we are following the city bylaw rules and be on our best behaviour. Because we have obtained a permit for this event, we are going to be more strict about our rules. Every attendee MUST follow our rules at the beach party. If you break any of these rules, you can/will be removed from the event. Here are the rules:

1. Upon arrival at our picnic area, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO SIGN A RELEASE WAIVER. You MUST sign and agree in order to enter our permit area and participate at our events.

2. VERY IMPORTANT: Due to city park bylaws, we cannot have any large props or weapon replicas in the park beach. PLEASE DO NOT BRING LARGE PROPS OR WEAPON REPLICAS TO THE EVENT, otherwise you will be denied entry into our picnic area and you will have to place your replica in a designated spot. Leave them at home and save the props/weapon replica for the many conventions taking place during the summer!

3. Please be on your best behavior. We have a permit with the city of Toronto to hold this event and we want to represent the GTA Cosplay Community in the best light possible. If you see something suspicious or if anyone is causing a disturbance or interfering, please look for a CHG host or volunteer with a lanyard and we will assist you.

4. Absolutely no alcohol consumption in the park.

5. FOOD AND DRINKS: You can bring food and drinks with you to our event. If you’re planning to share your food or drinks with others, please use discretion when doing so (e.g. being aware of food allergies that others may have). The use of BBQ or gas grills in our permit area is prohibited.

6. Please pick up after yourself; you must clean up your mess and throw all your garbage in the trash, etc.

7. Regular photography is allowed in our area. However, any exchange of money or business must be done off site and not in our designated permit area.

8. When you're playing with the board games, please keep them in good condition and do not damage them in any way.

9. If you have any questions or comments regarding these rules, don’t hesitate to contact us or post in this event page for more information.

We have secured funding for the permit through the raffles we held at our events! However, if you would like to donate towards future CHG cosplay picnics, you can send a donation to our PayPal address:
